Matt Butler

Matt Butler has been surrounded by music his entire life.  Matt is the son of Gospel Music producer and executive, Les Butler.  He was used to Gospel, Country and Bluegrass Hall of Famers hanging out at the house his entire life.  That said, he has forged his own way over the past 10 plus years as an award-winning professional studio musician and engineer.

In recent years he has won awards for his recording engineer prowess including an IBMA award (Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers) and AGM award (Best Country Gospel Album/Dunaways).  He has engineered and played on 10 consecutive Singing News Bluegrass Gospel chart #1 songs for Heaven’s Mountain Band.  This #1 streak broke a record in the Singing News Magazine charts.  The Singing News Magazine is the worlds oldest and most recognized Gospel Music publication.

Matt has engineered and played on albums from some of the top artists in Gospel, Country and Bluegrass Music.  Here is a partial artist listing: Larry Gatlin, Jimmy Fortune, Darryl Worley, Richard Sterban and Duane Allen (Oak Ridge Boys), Joe Mullins, Jeff and Sheri Easter, Primitive QT, Barry Rowland & Deliverance, Heart 2 Heart, Williamsons, Easter Brothers, Marksmen Quartet, Heaven's Mountain Band and many more.  He just finished mixing the new album by Grammy and Dove award winning singer/songwriter, Ronny Hinson.  He is currently producing, engineering, and playing on new tracks for Ronny and his wife, Lisa.  He has engineered for Steve Clark, the writer of multiple #1 country hit songs like, “Can’t Make a Heart Love Somebody”/George Strait, “Living Proof,”/Ricky Van Shelton, “I’ll be Better Off in a Pine Box”/Doug Stone and top hits from artists like, Confederate Railroad, Randy Travis, and John Michael Montgomery and more.

As a studio musician he has played on sessions with Nashville’s top players like Brent Mason, Gordon More, Danny Parks, Scotty Sanders, Steve Hinson, Mike Johnson, Ron Block, Andy Leftwich, Jason Webb, Johnny Brown, Kevin Grantt, Robb Tripp, Jason Roller, Justin Moses, Joel Key, Steve Brewster, Garth Justice and countless others.

In addition to full album productions, Matt also produces artist and singer/songwriter demos.  He plays most, if not all, of the instruments on these demos.  And, for the record, they are not digital instruments.  They are the real deal.  He is proficient on the electric bass, upright bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, dobro, ganjo and percussion.  He has produced, engineered, and played on the top demos from two of the top labels in Gospel music; Daywind and Mansion Records.  He has played on albums worldwide; 10 countries and counting.

Matt is also a contributor to mixcoach.com and Modern Producer iMagazine (both for his engineering skills).

I would love to help bring any of your musical ideas to life!
